WEST FARGO, N.D. – West Fargo Police Officer Luke Schany is on paid administrative leave after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
City officials said in a press release that Cass County deputies responded to a crash in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 7 where authorities say a vehicle went off the road and slid into the ditch.
Flag Family News has reached out to the Sheriff’s Office to see what Schany’s blood alcohol content was.
West Fargo Police has opened an internal investigation into the 23-year-old who began his law enforcement career in West Fargo as a community service officer in 2022. He was promoted to a patrol officer in 2024.
“We are committed to maintaining high standards of service and expect all our officers who wear the badge in the City of West Fargo to adhere to these standards,” West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielsen said. “We are grateful to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office for their role in ensuring our community’s safety and for their efforts in investigating this incident.”
