Woman attacks Jamestown Police, faces potential charges

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – A Jamestown woman faces potential charges after attacking police officers.

On Wednesday at just before 11 a.m., police officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Thomas Avenue to conduct a welfare check on an individual they say is well known to the department. They have responded to the location a total of 14 times since October 2025.

Officers arrived and knocked on the door when they were met by 21-year-old Emily Sather, the subject of the call. Without saying anything, she lunged at the officer and punched them in the face at least twice. After a short struggle, the officer pulled their Taser, subduing Sather and placing her in handcuffs.

Several backup officers from Jamestown, the Stutsman County sheriff’s office and Highway Patrol arrived and assisted police.

Sather was taken to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center for clearance by ambulance before being transported to the State Hospital in Jamestown, while the officer was taken to the hospital for injuries.

The Stutsman County State’s Attorney’s Office is now reviewing the case for potential formal charges.
