Pelican Rapids Superintendent dies

The Superintendent of the Pelican Rapids School District, Dr. Edwin Richardson, has died.

The school announced the Superintendent’s passing on their website, saying Richardson died on the morning of April 9.

“One of Dr. Ed's many contributions to the district was the OMP! (Oh my pineapple award), which he used to recognize people for going above and beyond,” a post on the school district’s website said. “Dr. Ed went above and beyond each and every day for our school and we will miss him beyond measure!”

Funeral services are pending.

The school district says that school-based mental health services are available for any student, family member or district staff.
