(Bismarck, ND) -- Several North Dakota coal and ethanol plants are asking lawmakers for a sales tax exemption for carbon dioxide underground storage. A similar exemption is already in place for carbon dioxide injected into old oil fields. State Senator Jessica Bell is sponsoring a bill that would exempt carbon storage from sales taxes. Leaders in the coal and ethanol industries testified yesterday on the issue.
