(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Park Board now has two candidates for its three open spots in the coming June election.

Former Fargo Public Schools Director of Maintenance and Operations Jim Frueh has announced his candidacy for one of the seats.

"I share the vision of Fargo Parks and Recreation and would enjoy the opportunity to work within the Park Board and alongside the staff to build upon the vision of improving the lifestyle of everyone who calls Fargo home," said Frueh in a statement released to WDAY Radio. "I look forward to implementing new programs and activities, and also maintaining and managing what we already have through a focused long-range facility plan."

Frueh moved to Fargo in 2006 from Rugby, where he and his wife Jean raised their three children. He served on multiple boards there, including the Rugby School Board, Economic Development Board, Church Board, Lions Club, Fire and Ambulance Service and was the Rugby Municipal Judge.

"My passion is to serve. Having the opportunity to work with others who share the goal of improving the lifestyle for our community inspires me. There may be obstacles along the way, but when we keep our minds on the end goal, much will be accomplished when we work together," said Frueh.

He joins a fairly baron race in an election that has seen well over a dozen candidates for City Commission and six mayoral candidates. As of Monday morning, only Frueh and incumbent Joe Deutsch have announced their runs for Park Board.
