(Fargo, ND) -- Passenger numbers at the state's commercial airports are on the rise.
The State Aeronautics Commission says Hector International in Fargo enjoyed its best September ever with over 35-thousand passengers, a 3.6% increase. Five of North Dakota's commercial airports exceeded numbers from September 2019. Bismarck increased by just under ten percent, Dickinson's passenger numbers rose by over 26-percent and Williston spiked with a nearly 42-percent increase in passengers this September compared to 2019.
The state's airline passenger volume is only 5% behind pre-pandemic levels. Since March of 2020, The commission says North Dakota's airline industry is the closest it's been to reaching pre-pandemic passenger counts so far.
“North Dakota’s air service continues to show an elevated level of demand for the seats that are available,” stated Kyle Wanner, Executive Director for the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission. “The message continues to be the same in that our communities would like to see additional flights and purchasable seats become available for the flying public."
