Audit of North Dakota Soybean Council finds improprieties

(Bismarck, ND)  --  An audit of the North Dakota Soybean Council released this week has found the council used funds from the sale of soybeans improperly.

The State Auditor's Office determined the Soybean Council, which markets and promotes soybeans, had awarded a grant up to 85-thousand-dollars to the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association.

Some of that money was paid to a Legislative Educator who is also a registered lobbyist.

That is a violation of federal regulations and the terms of the grant agreement.
