Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger announced North Dakota’s taxable sales and purchases increased nearly 10 percent for the first quarter of 2018. Taxable sales and purchases for the quarter totaled nearly $4.1 billion. According to Rauschenberger, the first quarter increase is the largest year-to-year growth since 2014. Since the US Supreme Court’s decision affirming the ability for states to require remote sellers to collect and submit sales tax for online purchases, the tax commissioner says these increases may continue into the fall and next year.
