(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota officials are keeping an eye on the northern border ahead of a possible strike by Canadian border agents.
Canada’s Customs and Immigration Union is demanding higher salaries and benefits and the membership has authorized a strike as early as next month.
Union officials say crossing the border could take up to ten hours if customs agents strike.
State leaders say they are working with the Canadian government to explore contingency plans if the strike happens.
