(Bismarck, ND) – Congressional candidate Julie Fedorchak says her campaign will be filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission following the sending of text messages to thousands of North Dakotans on Tuesday morning claiming she was withdrawing from the Congressional race.
In a brief press conference called Tuesday afternoon, Fedorchak said she had not received the message herself.
When asked if she will contest the results of the election, she said, “We’ll see what the results are and deal with it at that time.”
“We expect the results to go our way,” Fedorchak said.
She also said she has not reached out to opponents regarding the messages.
In a message to WDAY Radio, candidate Rick Becker said the messages weren’t from anyone affiliated with him.
“It wasn’t from me or my campaign. I did not approve it,” he said in a text message. “I was not aware of it until someone sent me a screenshot this morning.”
Alex Balasz, the GOP endorsed candidate, told WDAY Radio that he had not seen the issues, but said tactics are something he nor his campaign would do or condone.
“We need to stick to the issues,” he said.
