ENERGY MATTERS: Abandoned Mine Lands Division assistant director Joan Breiner joins the show

Joan joined Energy Matters to talk about the history of mining in North Dakota and how some mines that are now being addressed by the AML Division were operating before modern reclamations were put into place. Most of the work in the past year involved an underground mine near Williston and some surface mines in Morton County. The money for the AML program comes from a tax paid by the state’s five lignite mines.

Joan is the assistant director with the Abandoned Mine Lands Division of the North Dakota Public Service Commission.
