Twins walk-off White Sox in 10 innings on throwing error

On Tuesday evening the Minnesota Twins squared off with the Chicago White Sox in the second game of their three game series.

Minnesota starting pitcher Pablo Lopez struggled in the first inning allowing the first four batters to reach base. Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. each singled, then Gavin Sheets walked. After the bases were loaded Andrew Vaughn hit a two RBI double, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead. Lopez would then proceed to set down 23 straight batters, before being pulled after 7 2/3 innings. He struck out 10 batters in the no-decision.

The Twins would counter in the bottom of the first inning with Donovan Solano hitting a leadoff single, then Byron Buxton crushed a 423 foot home run into the bullpen. His 100th career home run. The game was tied 2-2.

In the bottom of the second inning Michael A. Taylor hit a 408 foot home run of his own into the bullpen, giving Minnesota the 3-2 lead.

Both teams would stalemate until the top of the ninth inning when Jhoan Duran came in for Minnesota to have an opportunity to close the game. Duran’s first pitch was a curveball that hung over the middle of the plate, Chicago’s Robert Jr. went yard to tie the game again, this time 3-3.

In the top of the 10th inning Minnesota’s Griffin Jax set down the White Sox 1-2-3. In the bottom half of the inning Taylor looked to lay down a bunt with Willi Castro on second base. He would lay down the bunt, but Hanser Alberto would commit an error tossing the baseball into right field allowing Castro to score. TWINS WIN 4-3!

The Twins and White Sox will battle again Wednesday afternoon in the series rubber match. First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. with Sonny Gray on the bump for Minnesota.
