Bruins set NHL's single season points record

(Boston, MA) -- The Boston Bruins continue to make history. After taking down the Washington Capitals 5-2, the B's set the NHL record for most points by a team in a single season. Boston surpassed the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens after earning its 133rd point of the year.

Tomas Nosek scored the game-winning goal after finding the back of the net in the beginning of the third period. Brad Marchand, Tyler Bertuzzi, Garnet Hathaway and Jake DeBrusk also scored for Boston. Linus Ullmark stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced before leaving the game with an apparent injury. Jeremy Swayman secured the victory after stopping all six shots he faced.

The Bruins close out the regular season Thursday night when they visit the Canadiens in Montreal.
