(St. Petersburg, FL) -- The Rays are starting off the season by tying a modern MLB record.
Tampa Bay won its 13th consecutive game to start the year after beating the Boston Red Sox 9-3 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The Rays have matched the 13-0 start of the 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers. Kevin Kelly was credited with the victory after allowing one run over two and two-thirds innings of relief. Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe each went deep with a solo shot in the win.
Corey Kluber was tagged with his third loss of the season after allowing four runs over four and two-thirds innings. Rob Refsnyder slugged his first homer of the season as the Sox have dropped four straight to fall to last in the AL East at 5-8.
