(Eagan, MN) -- The Minnesota Vikings are moving on from outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith after only a season.
The team traded Smith, a 2025 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 seventh-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for a fifth round pick in both the 2024 and 2025 NFL Drafts.
Smith signed a three-year deal with the Purple last offseason, and he racked up ten sacks in 16 starts this past season. However, the 30-year-old requested a trade in early March.
Free agent signee Marcus Davenport is expected to take Smith's place as a starting edge rusher.
