NHL not interested in adding in-season tournament

The National Hockey League is balking at the idea of an in-season tournament.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly spoke with ESPN and said, "No consideration is being given to in-season tournaments." NHLPA executive director Marty Walsh also chimed in and said discussions with players on a potential in-season tournament haven't taken place yet. However, Walsh says, "I think it's worth looking at anything that's out there... You never know what turns into a brilliant idea."

The NBA announced earlier this month that a European cup-style competition will take place in the league this season. The winning team will be awarded the NBA Cup and players will receive $500,000 each.
