FARGO, ND— The Fargo Force in conjunction with Augustana University have announced today, July 19, 2023, that Force Associate Head Coach, Chad Demers has accepted the role of Assistant Coach for the Augustana University Men’s Hockey Program.

“I am very appreciative for my time in Fargo and am proud of all that we were able to accomplish here. I want to thank our owners, management, coaching and support staff, our incredible fans, and most of all our players for their support and dedication to Force hockey. While it is hard to leave Fargo, I could not be more excited about the opportunity to coach at Augustana University. It’s an exciting time to be a part of Viking hockey as we begin our inaugural season. I look forward to working with Coach Raboin and his staff as we set out to build something special here at Augustana University.”

In his second season as Associate Head Coach Chad helped lead the Force to one of the best seasons in franchise history. Their 40-14-4-4 regular season record secured the team the first Anderson Cup Championship in franchise history and broke the team’s single season wins record and points record. Under his guidance the Force also claimed their 6th Western Conference Championship title the during their 2023 Clark Cup Playoff run.

“Chad is going to be an excellent addition to the Augustana Coaching Staff,” said Fargo Force President Jon Kram. “It’s always great to see our Force Alumni succeed at a high level and we wish him nothing but the best in all future endeavors.” Chad will join the Augustana Vikings in their inaugural season as a D1 College Hockey Program. The Vikings will face off against former Force Head Coach Nick Oliver and the University of Wisconsin Badgers in their inaugural game on Friday, October 7th in Madison, WI.

“It’s a unique and exciting opportunity to be able to join a team in their inaugural season,” commented Force Minority Owner Matt Cullen. “Chad is an outstanding person and coach, we can’t wait to watch his success in Augustana next season.”

The Fargo Force rounded out their coaching staff for the 2023-24 season last week with the announcement of Associate Head Coach, Corey Leivermann. Corey will join Head Coach Brett Skinner, Assistant Coach Jackson Keane and Assistant/Goaltending Coach, Carter Krier. The Force kick off the 2023-24 Season with their Home Opener on Saturday, September 30 at 6:05 p.m.
