(Minneapolis, MN)-- The  Twins will face the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League wild-card series.

The Minnesota Twins won the AL Central for the third time in five seasons under Rocco Baldelli and hope to end a streak of playoff losses that goes back to 2004. They have lost 18 consecutive playoff games to the likes of the Yankees, Athletics, and Astros. The good news for the Twins is they are facing none of those teams in the wild-card round. The bad news is they are facing a mirror image of themselves in the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins and Blue Jays last postseason meeting was in 1991 when they met in the ALCS, the Twins won the series in five games and went on to win the World Series that year.

This time around the Twins face a Toronto team that is coming off of an 89-win season and possess the leader in strikeouts in Kevin Gausman, plus some serious offensive talent in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Matt Chapman, and Bo Bichette.

The Twins and Blue Jays wild card series is a best-of-three series, all three games if necessary will be played at Target Field, and the winner will face the AL West champion Houston Astros in the ALDS. First pitch for game one is set for 3:38 p.m. on ESPN.
