NDSU welcomes conference newcomer Murray St to the Fargodome

(Fargo,ND)-- North Dakota State welcomes conference newcomer Murray State to the Fargodome in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

North Dakota State looked dominate vs Western Illinois putting up 52 points, and over 600 yards of total offense. NDSU is looking to get to 6-2 and then brace themselves for a matchup in Brookings against #1 South Dakota State. 

Murray State from Murray, Kentucky is the newest member of the conference, they left the Ohio Valley Conference in order to join the Missouri Valley Football Conference. They are best known for NBA superstar Ja Morant who played his college basketball at Murray State. The football team on the otherhand is 2-5 on the season but they do have a conference win as they beat Indiana St 30-28.

On offense Murray averages about 18 points a game, they are led by quarterback DJ Williams who has thrown for over 1000 yards and eight touchdowns but he is a bit trigger-happy as he has thrown five interceptions. He leading receiver is #15 Cole Rusk, he had caught 22 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Racers' leading rusher is #4 Cortezz Jones, he has ran the ball 66 times for 311 yards and three scores. Murray State's offense averages just over 300 yards per game.

Defensively, the Racers give up 31 points a game which is 99th in the country. They are led by linebacker Nick Walker who leads the team in tackles with 47. The secondary is led by Kanyon Walker who has 34 tackles and 2 pass breakups on the season.

Kickoff for the Bison and Racers is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Fargodome.
