Twins blow series finale to Tigers in eighth

(Detroit, MI) -- The Twins fell apart in the bottom of the eighth during a 4-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

Ryan Jeffers had a two-run single in the second, and Christian Vazquez homered in the fourth to put Minnesota up 3-0. The Twins held that lead until the eighth, when Caleb Thielbar spoiled his 2024 debut by giving up three runs in a third of an inning. Griffin Jax surrendered one more later in the frame and was charged with the loss.

The 6-8 Twins send Louie Varland to the mound against the Orioles on Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
