On Friday, March 6, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks announced the debut of the alternate identity nickname with full branding tied to the name. For five nights in the 2026 season the RedHawks will become the “Fargo Woodchippers”.
“We’re excited to finally reveal the Woodchippers to the world,” RedHawks general manager Karl Hoium said. “This process has evolved over several years of brainstorming and design, and we hope that local and national fans enjoy the midwestern flair.”
During the featured nights the team will be wearing custom yellow and black “Woodchippers” uniforms. Merchandise will be available on the team store and online at fargowoodchippers.shop. Additionally, the game worn jerseys will be available via auction during the season.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Coen brothers film, “Fargo”, as well as the RedHawks organization. The infamous woodchipper prop used in the film that has become synonymous with the city now resides at the Fargo-Moorhead Convention & Visitors Bureau on 44th Street in Fargo.
The five Woodchippers uniform appearances will be:
- Friday, June 12 vs Winnipeg
- Friday, July 10 vs Cleburne
- Wednesday, July 22 vs Gary SouthShore
- Tuesday, August 11 vs Sioux City
- Saturday, August 29 vs Milwaukee
The RedHawks will open the 2026 season on Thursday, May 14 in Cleburne, battling the Railroaders for six games before returning back to Fargo. The home opener will be on Friday, May 22 against the Kane County Cougars.
