No. 2 North Dakota shuts out Merrimack in regional semifinal

On Thursday, March 26 the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team entered the Sioux Falls regional as the top seed and the No. 2 seed nationally. UND would end up defeating Merrimack 2-0 in the regional semifinals.

Cody Croal led the Fighting Hawks with two goals while Dylan James also found the back of the net. Croal’s second goal was an empty netter with 44 seconds remaining to ice the game. Will Sellers added two assists while Ellis Rickwood, Andrew Strathmann, and EJ Emery chipped in an assist apiece.

Jan Spunar was tremendous in net, saving all 31 shots he faced in net.

North Dakota won the face-off battle 31-23. NoDak blocked 11 shots in the win.

UND will now square off with Quinnipiac in the region final on Saturday in Sioux Falls. Time of the puck drop is still to be determined.
