Twins drop rubber match to Mets

The Minnesota Twins dropped their series rubber match to the New York Mets 10-8 on Thursday night. The Twins trailed 6-1 in the second inning, before tying the game at seven in the eighth inning.

Joe Ryan gave up seven runs (four earned) over five innings with five strikeouts in a no-decision. Andrew Morris surrendered two runs over 2 ⅔ innings with four strikeouts and was tagged with the loss. Anthony Banda recorded an out in relief.

Ryan Jeffers hit a grand slam. Tristan Gray hit a solo home run while driving in two total runs. Austin Martin and Josh Bell added an RBI apiece.

Minnesota fell to a record of 12-13 on the season.

The Twins will now head to Tampa Bay to battle the Rays in a weekend series beginning on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m. and game coverage available on Twins.TV. Taj Bradley will be on the mound for Minnesota while Drew Rasmussen counters for Tampa Bay.
