(Phoenix, AZ) — The Minnesota Twins dropped their series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 at Chase Field last night.
The Twins trailed by four before Ryan Jeffers tied the game with a three-run home run in the top of the seventh. However, Minnesota allowed the eventual game-winning run to score on an infield single in the next half-inning. Byron Buxton also homered in the losing effort, while Jorge Alcala was charged with his third loss in relief. The Twins remain in second place in the AL Central at 43-36.
The Twins send Simeon Woods Richardson to the mound against the D-Backs on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8:40 p.m.
