Twins sweep doubleheader against O’s; extend winning streak to 10 games

The Minnesota Twins swept their doubleheader with the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The Twins defeated the Orioles 6-3 in Game One.

Bailey Ober gave up three runs over 4 ⅔ innings in a no-decision. Danny Coulombe tossed ⅓ of an inning while Brock Stewart, Louie Varland, Griffin Jax, and Jhoan Duran each tossed an inning in relief.

Christian Vazquez led the offensive attack with a three-run homer. Brooks Lee added a solo home run with Trevor Larnach also picked up an RBI.

Minnesota edged Baltimore 8-6 to wrap up the doubleheader in Game Two.

Simeon Woods Richardson gave up six runs over four innings in a no-decision. Jorge Alcala tossed a pair of shutout innings followed by Kody Funderburk who threw 1 ⅓ innings. Justin Topa recorded two outs with Cole Sands tossing the ninth inning.

Kody Clemens led the offense with a three-run homer followed by a Trevor Larnach two-run shot, and Willi Castro adding a solo home run. Clemens drove in four total runs in the win. Harrison Bader also tallied an RBI.

Minnesota is now riding a 10 game winning streak. The Twins and O’s will wrap up their series on Thursday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 11:35 a.m. Chris Paddack will be on the mound for Minnesota while Tomoyuki Sugano counters for Baltimore.
