Team USA defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 in the 2025 World Baseball Classic semifinals on Sunday night.
Paul Skenes only surrendered one earned run over 4 1/3 innings of work over 71 pitches with two strikeouts en route to earning the victory. Tyler Rogers was one of four American pitchers to earn a hold, forcing the DR into an inning ending double play on only two pitches in the fifth inning. Griffin Jax, David Bednar, and Garrett Whitlock each tossed a scoreless inning in relief earning holds. Mason Miller threw a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts, earning the save for Team USA.

Both runs for the Americans were scored in the fourth inning via solo home runs. Gunnar Henderson hit the first solo shot with Roman Anthony hitting the second of the inning. Team USA struck out 15 times while also stranding six runners on base in the game.

Team USA will play the winner of Venezuela-Italy in the World Baseball Classic championship game on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. on FOX.
The Venezuela-Italy game will be played on Monday night at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
