ST. PAUL, MN — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says violent crime in the state declined last year.
New data released Friday shows that violent crime reports around the state dropped nearly 7% from 2022 to 2023. Every category of violent crime dropped, with rape and robbery reports both declining by more than 10%. Property crimes in the state also decline by 14% during the period. The total crime rate dropped by a total of 13%.
Violent Crime is below the reported 2021 and 2022 numbers. However, the 2023 numbers remain above the 2019 and 2020 numbers.
