(GRANDIN) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says one person was injured when a car rear ended a motorcycle north of Grandin Monday evening.
A 2013 Suzuki motorcycle was southbound on I-29 in the second lane, with a 2006 Hyundai Sonata following it. The driver of the Sonata, 18-year-old Steel Erickson, of Rosholt, S.D., became distracted in his wheel. He took his attention away from the roadway and rear ended the motorcycle, driven by 51-year-old Jayme Frank of Fargo.
The collision caused Frank to separate from his motorcycle and vault over the top of the Hyundai and onto the roadway. After the collision, Frank came to rest on the grass outside shoulder of I-29, and his motorcycle came to rest in the west ditch. Erickson came to a stop on the outside shoulder.
Frank was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Erickson was cited for distracted driving.
The crash remains under investigation.
