Horace City Council approves preliminary budget with $1.3 million increase in expenses

(HORACE) – The Horace City Council has given their preliminary approval of the 2025 city budget, including $1.3 million in expenses.

The increase in expenses totals nearly $600,000 more in expenses from the 2024 budget. According to city documents, the increases include raises for the City Commissioners and Mayor, along with an addition of an assistant city planner/code enforcement official.

The budget also includes a $20,000 increase in the law enforcement line item, which will account for the increase from Cass County, who provides policing in the City of Horace.
