(BRECKENRIDGE) — Hot embers from a fire pit appear to be the blame for a fire Monday night in Breckenridge, Minn. Fire and police crews respond to the 600 block of Nebraska Avenue to find a detached garage, near the alley, was on fire. Officers worked to evacuate nearby residences, while the Fire Department worked to extinguish the flames. A large pine tree near the garage ignited. The hot embers from the pine tree were carried by the south wind, as far as four houses to the north. This caused additional fires in yards and garages, for the fire department to extinguish. While fire crews were battling all of the fires, a live electrical line, located above the garage, broke and was arcing, while lying across the alley. Breckenridge Public Utilities responded and made the live electrical line safe. No injuries were reported.
