Interim N.D. higher education chancellor reacts to legislator’s death

(BISMARCK, ND) – North Dakota education leaders say Rep. Cindy Schreiber-Beck was an advocate for all levels of education.

“We are saddened to learn about the passing of Representative Cynthia “Cindy” Schreiber-Beck, who devoted herself to making North Dakota a better place for students and learning as vice chair of the House Education Committee. As a legislator, Cindy was crucial in establishing the Workforce Education Innovation Grant fund, which was given a $10 million appropriation this session for our North Dakota University System institutions. The program allows the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education to award funds to institutions to create or enhance educational programs that address state workforce needs,” North Dakota University System Interim Chancellor Brent Sanford said.

North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong announced Schreiber-Beck’s death Monday. She had served in the North Dakota House since 2015, and vice-chaired the House Education Committee in the legislative session.
