Luther Family Ford Salute to Law Enforcement

February 2026 – Officer Werk of Moorhead Police Department

We are proud to recognize School Resource Officer Andy Werk as the February 2026 recipient of the Luther Family Ford Salute to Law Enforcement award. Officer Werk has been serving our community since 2016, when he joined the Moorhead Police Department after graduating from Minnesota State University–Moorhead with a degree in criminal justice and completing his skills training at Alexandria Technical and Community College.

Over the past ten years, Andy has worked in patrol and taken on extra roles as a Field Training Officer, bike patrol officer, and firearms instructor. For the last four years, he’s been serving at Moorhead High School as a School Resource Officer, where he’s built strong connections with students and staff. Andy is known for his calm approach to tough situations and his willingness to go the extra mile to keep schools safe. He also volunteers with the Police Athletics and Activities League and was named PAL Officer of the Year in 2023. He serves on the Peer Assistance Response Team and Honor Guard and earned the department’s Life Saving Award in 2023.

Outside of work, Andy and his wife, MPD Detective Jordan Werk, are raising four kids in Moorhead. Together, they lead the annual Giving Tree project each holiday season, making sure children at Churches United Homeless Shelter receive gifts. Andy enjoys coaching baseball and football for his kids teams and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

We’re thankful for Andy’s dedication to Moorhead and the positive impact he’s had on our schools and community.
