Secret Service Director calls shooting “unacceptable”

(Washington, DC) — The director of the Secret Service says Saturday’s shooting at former President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania was “unacceptable.”

In an interview with ABC News, director Kimberly Cheatle said it’s her responsibility as head of the agency to investigate what happened and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. She also responded to reports about the shooter being spotted before the incident happened, saying it was “a very short period of time.” Cheatle added that local police were responsible for the outer perimeter of the building where the shooter opened fired and that there was local police in that building.

She also said she will not be stepping down from her position.
