WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former President Trump says he would fire the special counsel that has indicted him on multiple criminal charges if elected.
The Republican presidential nominee told radio host Hugh Hewitt, that it would be an easy decision to fire Jack Smith. Trump said he would do it within two seconds.
Smith was made special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland to be in charge of two investigations including Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Trump is still facing charges in the 2020 election case.
