Warm weekend with Canadian smoke

A warm weekend with a true summer feel to it will overspread the area as we turn the calendar into June.  However, with all the wildfires up in Canada and our upper level winds coming in from the north, we will have smoky skies along with the heat.   Air quality will deteriorate this weekend as some of the upper level smoke makes it down to the surface.  This will produce poor air quality throughout the state.  For the latest on the smoke, here’s a great site to check out:  https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/

Temps will be in the mid to upper 80s this weekend with no chance for rain.   As we look into next week, we have a decent chance for showers/storms on Monday evening into Monday night.  Some of those storms may be strong/severe from 94 corridor southward.  Rainfall rates are all over the place on our models:

How much rain we get all depends on the timing of the cold front on Monday evening/night.   Stay tuned…..
