Fire damages "multiple" cars in parking lot at Moorhead High School

(Fargo, ND) -- A representative for Moorhead Area Public Schools says a number cars in the parking lot at Moorhead High School caught fire Tuesday morning.

"Moorhead High School administration became aware of a fire in the East student parking lot on May 7 after the school day began. The Moorhead fire and police departments responded immediately and the fire was extinguished quickly. Multiple unoccupied vehicles were damaged. All students are safe and school is continuing with normal activities. Administration is working with impacted students and families. We are thankful to emergency personnel for their quick response to the incident. The health, safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority," said district spokesperson Brenda Richman in a written statement to WDAY Radio Now.

Richman did not provide any information on a possible cause for the fire.
