(Fergus Falls, MN) – A former Minnesota legislator has died.

Former Minnesota State Senator Cal Larson, of Fergus Falls, died April 1 at The Cottage in Detroit Lakes, Minn., at age 93.

According to his obituary, Larson was elected to the Minnesota State House in 1966, serving for eight years before retiring. He later served as a Minnesota State Senator from 1986 until 2006.

“He set a shining example for what a public servant should be- good common sense, humility,  a deeply rooted commitment to do good, and an ability to work with folks on both sides of the aisle to better serve the community he represented,” former United States Senator Norm Coleman said in a social media post.

Services for Larson will be held in June at Zion Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, Minn.
