Twins defeat Guardians in series rubber match

A four run fifth inning fueled the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 rubber match victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday afternoon.

Minnesota used six pitchers in a bullpen game on Sunday.

Andrew Morris tossed a scoreless inning. Kendry Rojas threw 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up one run and earning the win. Travis Adams gave up two runs over 1 1/3 innings while Anthony Banda threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Luis Garcia gave up one run over one inning. Yoendrys Gomez closed the door with the save after a scoreless ninth inning.

Josh Bell, Austin Martin, Brooks Lee, and Royce Lewis drove in a run apiece in the game.

Minnesota rose to 18-23 on the season.

The Twins are returning home to Target Field for a nine game home stand beginning with a three game mid week series against the Miami Marlins the will begin on Tuesday. First pitch will be scheduled for 6:40 p.m. with full game coverage available on Twins.TV. Bailey Ober will be on the mound for Minnesota while Eury Perez counters for Miami.
