Near record heat on Memorial Day and now near record heat for today!! More hot weather grips the area for most of this week. Why? Well, one easy answer is what we call a “blocking” pattern. An OMEGA blocking pattern. What is an Omega Block? It’s when the upper level winds form the shape of the greek letter omega:
When you are stuck under the “omega” you get stagnant weather and in the summer that typically means HOT weather. That’s what we will have all week!! Temps in the upper 80s to near 90 all week with the only chance for rainfall coming into the area this evening into the overnight hours. Some of those storms that do develop, could be on the strong side.
