Search for next UND President continues

The search for the next President at the University of North Dakota continues.

The committee tasked with finding the next President met Wednesday afternoon to discuss the updates from the firm AGB Search and the upcoming process.

The search firm representatives, Dr. James McCormick and Janice Fitzgerald, briefed the committee on the search so far, saying the firm is ‘getting considerable responses on nominations.’ They also say that there is ‘quite a bit of interest in the position.’

McCormick also told the search committee that the names of those who apply are confidential in nature, until finalists are chosen.

Current interim President Joshua Wynne is serving following the departure of Mark Kennedy, who left in June to take a job at the University of Colorado, which is a system comprised of four campuses.

Search committee co-chairman Casey Ryan noted that for Dr. Wynne to be eligible for the permanent president position, he would have to resign as interim president, but not as dean of the med school.

The next meeting of the search committee will be October 2.
