Six candidates have accepted invitations to visit the University of North Dakota campus to interview for the position of President of the University. The visits will take place in mid-November, with the State Board of Higher Education naming the next President at the December 3 meeting.

According to information from the University of North Dakota, 61 applicants were received for the position. The UND Presidential Search Committee interviewed 11 candidates last week and narrowed the list down to the final six.

The six candidates are: Dr. Andrew P. Armacost, Dean of the Faculty and Chief Academic Officer at the US Air Force Academy; Dr. Robert J. Marley, Professor of Engineering Management and Former Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the Missouri University of Science and Technology; Dr. Laurie A. Stenberg Nichols, the current Interim President at Black Hills State University and former President at the University of Wyoming; Dr. David V. Rosowsky, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and former Provost and Senior Vice President at the University of Vermont; Dr. Chuck Staben, Professor of Biology and former President at the University of Idaho; and Dr. Paul J. Tikalsky, Dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University.

The new UND President will succeed Mark R. Kennedy, who departed in June 2019 to take a position in Colorado.

The President is anticipated to begin on or before July 1, 2020.
