Northern Plains UAS Test Receives Authorization to Fly Beyond Visual Line of Sight

The Northern Plains Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site (NP UAS TS) received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly beyond visual line of sight without the use of a chase airplane in controlled airspace out of the Grand Sky located at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

The NP UAS TS, in collaboration with the FAA, United States Air Force, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), Harris Corporation, and Grand Sky have been working closely over the past three years to achieve this milestone.
