Fargo Police Chief Firmly Opposes Recreational Marijuana Measure

Fargo Police Chief David Todd says he's firmly opposed to the recreational marijuana measure that will go before North Dakota voters in November.  Todd tells WZFG Radio's Need To Know Morning Show that he was part of 3 recent law enforcement votes that overwhelmingly disagreed with the measure.  Todd says the measure is too open in the way it's written, failing to limit any amount of possession or distribution.  Todd says in his 30-plus years in law enfocement, he sees countless examples of people who have become addicted to hard drugs after experimenting with marijuana.  Todd says that initiated measures can often be less than ideal since there is no legislative discussion or research behind the wording of the measures.  He says claims of a state tax benefits are largely exaggerated since anyone can grow and sell the product.
