Two Injured in Crash Near Detroit Lakes

The Minnesota State Patrol says two individuals were injured in an early Sunday morning crash west of Detroit Lakes on Highway 10.

According to the Patrol, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was eastbound on Highway 10, near Long Lake Road. A 2003 Jeep Liberty was crossing Highway 10 at the time, when the driver pulled out into the path of the oncoming Pontiac Grand Prix. This resulted in a T-bone type collision.

Driving the Jeep Liberty was 27-year-old Melanie Turcotte of Detroit Lakes. The driver of the Grand Prix was 36-year-old Kelly Wurst of Detroit Lakes, and his passenger was 33-year-old Jennifer Tappe of Frazee.

Turcotte was not injured. Wurst and Tappe were transferred to Essentia with what the Patrol classifies as “non-life threatening injuries.”

The Patrol says alcohol was involved in the accident.
