Two dead in incident on Grand Forks Air Force Base

 

A shooting incident at approximately 4:30 a.m. today at the Grand Forks Air Force Base has left two 319th Reconnaissance Wing active duty military members dead.

Base emergency services responded to the scene, have it contained and believe there is currently no risk to other personnel at this time. This incident is under investigation.

Staff Sergeant Elijaih Tiggs tells WZFG News that the incident occurred in one of the dorms on the base.

Out of respect for their families, the names and units of the victims will be withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification.

"We ask for the time and space needed to make these proper notifications through official channels," base officials say in a press release.

Base medical teams have deployed disaster mental health to care for those impacted.
