Grafton Public Schools Hosts Sip of Hope Coffee Bar

The Grafton Public School District has started a new initiative during the month of September.

September 10 was World Suicide Prevention Day, and, as a result, the school district opened the ‘Sip of Hope Coffee Bar’, an initiative in where the proceeds support proactive suicide prevention and mental health education.

Kristi Olson, high school counselor, says the school district teamed up with North Valley Career and Technology Center’s DECA store to put on a promotion to support the initiative started by Grafton Public Schools.

Olson says the staff at Grafton Public Schools have been very supportive of the initiative, as some have been directly affected by mental health issues.

The coffee bar, which has been open twice in the last few weeks, have seen students get together and take advantage of the opportunity.

“The biggest part is people coming and being a part of it,” Olson said.

Those who attend the coffee bar are able to mingle and just be around each other, with donations being accepted—but no student being turned down.
