Hoeven Announces More Than $1.2 Million for North Dakota Tribes

Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded more than $1.2 million to four North Dakota Indian tribes. The funds will be used to address opioid abuse and details are as follows:

• Standing Rock Sioux Tribe – $510,756
• Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians – $368,266
• Spirit Lake Tribe – $182,438
• Three Affiliated Tribes – $179,233

“We continue to work in Congress to provide strong support to states, tribes and local communities in their ongoing work to address the opioid abuse epidemic and provide prevention, treatment and recovery services,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funding will help support tribes throughout North Dakota in their efforts to combat substance abuse and provide their members with access to treatment.”
