Accident Sends Two to Altru

The Grand Forks Police were dispatched to a crash at Demers Avenue & North 5th Street Friday evening, at around 8:30 p.m.

The vehicles involved were a 2001 Nissan Sentra, driven by Mary Jo Pietron, age 53, of Grand Forks. The other vehicle is a 2005 GMC Envoy, driven by John Keller Jr., age 52, of Grand Forks. The passenger in the GMC Envoy is Darlene Meidinger, age 57, of Grand Forks.

The GMC Envoy was traveling west bound on Demers Avenue when it was struck by the Nissan Sentra going south bound on North 5th Street. The GMC Envoy spun and landed on its passenger side. The driver and passenger were trapped inside their vehicle. The Grand Forks Fire Department used tools to free them. The occupants of the GMC Envoy were transported to Altru to get evaluated. The driver of the Nissan Sentra declined medical attention at the scene. All of the parties involved were wearing their seatbelts.   The driver of the Nissan Sentra was cited for traffic signal disregarded.
