(Minneapolis, MN) -- Residents across the state of Minnesota will now be able to learn more about crime activity.

This week, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension launched the Minnesota Crime Data Explorer. The new online tool allows users to browse through data about criminal activity and other information reported by local law enforcement agencies.

BCA officials say the Minnesota Crime Data Explorer will be released in phases, with the tool currently offering data on firearms discharges and officer use-of-force.
