(Fargo, ND) -- One of the more business-oriented candidates for Fargo City Commission is speaking about her platform as election season moves forward.

Jodi Plecity, a businesswoman with ample experience in the entrepreneurial community, says unity will be one of the major pillars she would bring to the commission if elected this June.

"I really want to focus on minimizing special assessments, while moving to remove them," said Plecity on WDAY Midday. "I also think promoting a low, sustainable and predictable tax rate for all, rejecting the wants of the commissioners while focusing on needs of Fargo residents and focusing on pubic safety and mental health advocacy is crucial."

Plecity says she is not concerned about the number of candidates in the race, or being able to get along with fellow commissioners if elected.

"I feel that even if we aren't coming from the same place, we should be able to reach a conclusion for the best interest of the community," said Plecity. "Coming from a place of unity and being able to make things simpler for residents in the area."

Plecity added that, pertaining to a ward system, she would be interested in the idea of representation for folks like her who live in South Fargo, but would want more time to consider all factors before committing to switching governmental systems.
